Collection: The Vastness of the World in Comparison to Humans, the Quotidian

The beauty that surrounds us in the world supersedes the life of any one individual. More specifically, the lasting structures that we, as a community, build stand regally over all who come to see. We are but momentary specs in the grand flow of time; one of the more than 7 billion humans that will live and die in relative quietness. Inspiration for this collection came from walking around campus and marveling at the intricacies and designs of the buildings. It was here that I understood this institution is greater than any one person working within it. As humans, we traverse these institutions daily, whether they be government, school, or employment. We do so without even acknowledging the grandeur of these constructs, in relation to ourselves, instead thinking of the world through our own lenses. It is this notion that I sought to actively suppress in these photos. My goal is to show people conducting their daily business in constructs much bigger than any of them.
